Job Details

Luna Data Solutions, Inc. is currently looking for an experienced and motivated Backend Application Developer to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you ll design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications that power key business solutions. You ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow developers to deliver reliable, high-performing software that meets our clients evolving needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications and backend systems
  • Build and support headless APIs using Java
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following test-driven development (TDD) practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless functionality and user experience
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize applications for peak performance
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, refine user stories, and assist in estimating and planning development tasks

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of professional backend development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Java
  • Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and working with microservices architecture
  • Solid understanding of web security principles
  • Proficiency with JUnit for unit testing and Oracle SQL for database integration
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat and Git version control
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Groovy or OpenSearch
  • Knowledge of Tomcat configuration
  • Experience with Ansible or Nginx
