The Work
The Scalable S-Band Radar (SSR) software (SW) organization is seeking a Deputy Lead Software Engineer responsible for directly supporting Lead Software Engineers (LSWEs) in leadership efforts including the following:
Coordinating the planning, organization, integration, and completion of software development projects.
Coordinating activities concerned with technical development and resolving engineering design and test problems for specific SSR program(s).
Identifying and facilitating the resolution of SW development blockers.
Assisting in the development and ownership of software processes and future SW strategy.
Leveraging proven processes, lessons learned, and best practices from other parts of business or industry.
Reviewing program estimates and facilitating the collection of regular metrics to inform SW progress and serve as historical basis for future work.
Supporting overall Agile development process through the planning and execution of Cycle Planning, Cycle Review, Retrospectives, and continuous monitoring throughout the development.
Providing SW status and plans to program leadership and supporting program level meetings, presentations, and reviews.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent engineering/technical degree
Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience
Experience leading a team in an Agile software environment
Experience with planning and executing large SW efforts
Strong technical leadership skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Experience supporting program proposals and performing software estimates
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Clearance

Desired skills

Experience with Software Development Metrics
Experience with GitLab, Atlassian Tools, SBOMs, Static Code Analysis, and Releasability
Experience on Radar focused projects
Experience building strong customer relationships

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

The base range for this position in New Jersey is $91,000 - $172,488.
