A TEKsystems client in Jonesboro, AR is seeking an Entry Level Drafting Technician will utilize computer-aided drafting and design (CAD) software and other GIS mapping systems to prepare and update network maps of outside plant builds and record changes to keep records accurate at all times. This role will have additional data entry responsibilities outside of CAD and GIS mapping systems.
Essential Job Functions Drafting Technician:
Perform entry level drafting assignments as required by the Mapping Department
Provide support in all aspects of project documentation, including multiple software applications and file types
Prepare spatial data reports in varying levels and types
Transfer plant records and staking sheets and enter new service orders into CAD mapping system
Maintain records related to outside plant staking and all associated duties such as rights-of-way and local, state and federal permitting
Scan and file facility documents and other data as needed
Update status trackers with all relevant and required information
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to follow written, visual and verbal instructions
Knowledge of electronics and network drafting principles and practices
Knowledge of telecommunications products, services, and service delivery methods
Knowledge of mapping, drafting and design using computer aided drafting software
Comfortable working in a live database and with large datasets
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and forms including work orders, staking sheets, schematics and circuit diagrams
Ability to analyze and effectively document large volumes of technical data, while maintaining attention to detail
Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner
Ability to work independently, as well as in a project team environment
Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent plus CAD or GIS drafting experience; Associates Degree in Drafting or Electronics a plus
6-12 months of experience in a technical/engineer environment, telecommunications experience preferred
Proficiency in Cadtel or Mapcom software is a plus
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
