Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, an employee-owned company, is seeking an experienced Technical IT Director with an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and current polygraph to provide both strategic leadership and hands-on technical expertise to ensure continuous, secure, and reliable IT operations for our government customer's critical national security missions in Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities

As a Technical IT Director, you will:
  • Direct day-to-day IT operations supporting the customer's acquisition support mission.
  • Engage in hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, and resolving complex IT system and infrastructure issues.
  • Coordinate closely with Information Assurance, Service Desk, and Software Development teams to maintain seamless operations.
  • Oversee the continuous integration and deployment of software updates.
  • Lead and mentor a team of skilled IT Engineers on new and ongoing technical projects.
  • Manage personnel development, conduct performance reviews, and foster professional growth among AMERICAN SYSTEMS employee-owners.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with current Polygraph (required for consideration)
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT II level certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)
  • 10+ years of technical experience supporting IT systems, networks, and software development
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Information Assurance/Cybersecurity
  • Proven management or leadership experience guiding technical teams
  • Demonstrated success communicating with senior-level customers
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • VMware and virtual computing environments
    • Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)
    • Networking, storage systems, and information security principles
    • Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), such as Citrix

Ideal Candidate Background Includes:
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience
  • Database administration experience
  • Advanced VMware experience or certification
  • AWS or Azure certification

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $129,800.00/Yr. - USD $216,700.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
