Position Summary: Data Center Technician

The Data Center Technician is responsible for preparing, staging, and executing hardware setups and shutdowns-including racks, hard drives, and switches-based on detailed instructions, checklists, protocols, and communications. This role includes performing post-installation quality checks to ensure proper grounding, labeling, cabling, and staging in alignment with safety standards and Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
Technicians diagnose and troubleshoot issues using standard procedures, quickly identifying root causes and replacing faulty components. They also handle hardware decommissioning for routine upgrades and refreshes (e.g., memory enhancements, OS rebuilds) with minimal supervision. Effective communication and escalation of incidents to Data Center Technician Leads is essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, servers, and components
  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Prior data center experience is a plus

Core Responsibilities:

  • Monitor systems for hardware failures or performance issues
  • Respond to error messages by troubleshooting or terminating affected programs
  • Assist developers and analysts in testing and debugging new software
  • Use spreadsheet and other software tools to manage data and generate reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in computer programming or equivalent training
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
