Daikin Applied is seeking a HVAC Development Engineer III who will be able to see the product you helped create being built on the production floor. You will interact with production on prototype concepts. You will be a part of the initial design concept as well as special orders or greater customization. You will have the opportunity to maintain existing products as well as enhance customer add-ons which will provide flexibility in the Daikin product offering. What you will do:
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Give advice, analyze information, or serve as a professional resource on whom others may rely within a specific function
  • Participates as an engineering representative in cross-functional New Product Introduction process
  • Evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company
  • Procures materials needed to construct prototypes and supervises the design engineering of new models
  • Plans and develops test programs for prototypes
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional, performance, and safety specifications
  • Analyzes, evaluates, sources, and coordinates the procurement of new materials to support product introduction
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends cost improvement ideas through product, vendor, and design changes
  • Performs technical analysis of competitive products
  • Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
  • Collaborate with the factory Operations team to ensure seamless product launches

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Scientific or Technical field
  • 5+ years' of related experience with a broad knowledge of the principles and practices of HVAC engineering
  • Understanding of mechanical concepts such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structures, materials
  • Hands-on experience testing electro-mechanical equipment
  • Able to effectively communicate technical information to an audience in a presentation setting
  • Capabilities with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools
  • Knowledge of cross-functional groups such as Controls, EE, Mfg, Supply Chain, Design, Quality
  • Experience with New Product Introduction processes (NPI)
  • Knowledge of Lean principles
  • Can translate product requirements into engineering concepts
  • Knowledge of engineering tools and analysis methods such as DOE, DFMEA, DVP&R
  • Capabilities in modeling/simulation tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, VapCyc,
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Experience with refrigeration system, WSHP preferred
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office applications and SolidWorks 3D modeling
  • Solid Project Management Experience
  • Travel expectations up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree with 2+ years experience
  • People Leadership experience preferred

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,400k - $133,000K + 10% bonus. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
