Job Description
ECS is seeking a Junior Technical Writer to work in our Washington, DC office . Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
ECS is seeking a motivated Junior Technical Writer to support the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA)'s National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) program in Washington, DC. NBIS is the federal government's comprehensive IT system for end-to-end personnel vetting, including initiation, application, background investigation, adjudication, and continuous vetting. This contract role supports the modernization of NBIS through a Secure Cloud Landing Zone and Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) capabilities. The position requires independent and team-based work across program and systems management levels, with occasional travel for program meetings and document reviews.

Responsibilities
- Manage multiple tasks, priorities, and technical inputs with minimal supervision.
- Track and adapt to rapidly changing schedules and priorities.
- Draft and edit technical documentation, including Technical Manuals, Instructions, and Modification Instructions.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and assist technical team members with writing tasks.
- Troubleshoot Microsoft Word and PowerPoint issues for team members.
- Adhere to established processes, writing/style conventions, and configuration management for program documentation.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Clearance: Must have an active or interim Secret security clearance.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required, per DoD regulations
Desired Skills
- Experience with DoD documentation standards or NBIS program.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Git, SharePoint).
- Basic understanding of systems engineering, IT concepts, or DevSecOps principles.
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat or other PDF editing tools.
- Experience with XML-based documentation or DITA.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams or schematics.
