Lead UX Researcher (Open)
The Lead User Experience (UX) Researcher role at Ecolab will work on dynamic, highly collaborative, cross-functional teams, supporting a wide variety of user research practices and activities. This research can occur throughout the development of digital products and services. Our products and services are created to support business needs for customers, field personnel, and internal and external users. Ecolab's digital product teams utilize lean/agile and user-centered processes to drive innovation and iteration through frequent product releases.
This position is based in Naperville, IL office and has a hybrid work schedule

The base salary range for this position is $149,700.00 - $224,500.00. This position is eligible for annual bonus pay based on performance, per plan terms. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.

What You Will Do
Working in collaboration with UX Product Designers, technical teams, and other colleagues to:
- Be part of a dynamic and growing UX practice that creates digital experiences designed to streamline and enhance our customer and field interactions
- Develop and articulate best practices for UX research within product development activities with product teams, stakeholders, and external partners
- Be an integral member leading user research activities for our digital products and services, involved in initial discovery, ideation, conceptualization, and design, to testing and validation.
- Plan and conduct primary and secondary research. Synthesize research, build insights, reframe problems, and provide recommendations that enable our teams to generate and iterate on new solutions.
- Support the application of Human-Centered Design and Service Design Thinking approaches to guide the discovery and production of low-fidelity and high-fidelity deliverables.
- Plan and co-facilitate workshops internally and externally. Manage approaches that identify and solve complex problems.
- Coordinate work activities with digital teams, business teams, and other IT team members as required.
- Maintain and continuously advance your own, and your team's knowledge of current innovation and topics of interest in sustainability, manufacturing, e-commerce, and other relevant topics
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree or higher in a relevant field and/or equivalent related practical experience.
- 8 years of professional experience
- Present an online portfolio that showcases strong user-centered design process and fundamental research practices
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting, preferably in the manufacturing, government or sustainability sector
- Experience with digital product design: from discovery through iterative development and delivery
- Experience in translating complex user needs, technical constraints, and business goals into thoughtful, effective digital experiences
- Experience in designing consumer and business applications, both from the ground up as well as improving upon existing products
- No immigration sponsorship available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and frameworks
- Experience acting as an advocate, strategist, and leader for the design function, both within teams and with stakeholders
- Understanding of the Service Design and UX Design disciplines.
- Experience with industry-standard design and research tools (Figma, Adobe CC, InVision, User Testing, etc.)
- Experience with pattern libraries and design systems
- Strong communication and organizational skills and ability to deal with ambiguity while juggling multiple priorities.
- Experience with Agile and SAFe methodologies, and understanding of Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence.
- Experience planning and conducting user research and user testing sessions, including moderator guides
- Experience advocating a User-Centric Design approach that helps understand our users' needs, pain points, and desires.
