What You'll Do
Design and architect major backend features that leverage cutting-edge AI to deliver seamless user experiences.
Anticipate scaling challenges and proactively re-architect systems to ensure reliability, performance, and long-term stability.
Lead high-impact product and infrastructure initiatives, driving rapid iteration while minimizing technical debt.
Own the full lifecycle of significant technical projects-from system design to deployment.
Help establish engineering standards, processes, and best practices to support a high-quality, fast-moving development culture.
Who You Are
5+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems, especially in distributed environments.
Skilled in modern infrastructure and backend tooling, such as:
Cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform)
Containers (Docker)
Messaging/queuing systems (Kafka)
Relational databases (Postgres)
Capable of deep hands-on technical work while also mentoring engineers and influencing architectural direction.
Adept at owning end-to-end execution and navigating complex technical trade-offs.
Comfortable operating in environments with ambiguity and rapid change.
Values collaboration, kindness, and contributing to a positive, mission-aligned engineering culture.
Healthcare experience not required-startup experience and adaptability are highly valued.
Work Environment
This role is hybrid, with in-office collaboration 3 days per week at the San Francisco office.
