Analog Devices Inc. is seeking a versatile, product applications engineer to join our MEMS Inertial Sensors and System team. At Analog Devices, product application engineers are close to both technology and customer, which requires a unique blend of technical and relational skills.

We are looking for people who are quick learners, want to make a difference and are eager to solve interesting problems. In this role, you will participate in world-changing technology development in many markets, such as automotive, autonomous vehicles, agriculture, medical, industrial, aviation and defense.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for helping our customers design our products into their systems and as a result, turn opportunities into long-term business growth. Key activities will include customer-driven problem solving and using those experiences to improve product collateral, tools and eventually, next-generation product/tool offerings. In addition, you will likely have opportunity to create demonstration systems, develop case studies, product training materials, publish key insights, attend shows, give presentations, visit customer sites and create many forms of digital online content.

As part of your work, you will have regular engagement with our technology team, which has cutting-edge insight and strong experience in the areas of Inertial MEMS sensor design, mixed signal ASIC design, test development, product characterization, firmware development, package design, reliability and functional safety. This role will also offer opportunity to participate in the definition new products, platforms and tools that our customers can use, throughout their discovery and design with our products.

Responsibilities include:
  • Publish and maintain online product documentation, user guides and application notes.
  • Develop and maintain embedded software libraries for common sensor use cases.
  • Integrate new products into existing evaluation platforms.
  • Define and develop demonstration platforms for industry expos, promotion and training purposes.
  • Work directly with customers, to understand and solve problems that they encounter, while using our products.
  • Characterize and analyze key performance criteria of MEMS IMUs, gyroscopes and accelerometers.
  • Provide technical training on product capability and application support requirements.
  • Manage existing customer facing systems for external dialogue on a portfolio of products; wiki's, user forums, 'E-Zone', Q&A, application articles.
  • Position requires some travel.

Skill Set:
  • 5+ years with Masters Degree or 7+ with a Bachelors years of work experience in either applications, design, characterization or test engineering of semiconductor or electronic module products.
  • Familiarity with MEMS accelerometers, gyroscopes or IMUs is helpful.
  • Working knowledge of mixed-signal processing concepts (sampling theory, windowing, FFTs, FIR filters, etc.).
  • Embedded system development, including Integrated Development Environments (IDE) and bare metal drivers for peripheral devices.
  • Effective written and oral communication.
  • System evaluation and characterization with bench equipment: using oscilloscopes, power supplies, meters, logic analyzers.
  • Data analysis, using Matlab or software tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
