Job Details
Device Test Engineer
Test the device's physical components such as the display, buttons, and ports to ensure they are functioning correctly and are of good quality. Test the device's performance and power consumption, such as battery life, charging time, and overall performance. Perform durability and stress tests on the device, such as drop tests and temperature tests. Test the device's wireless connectivity and communication capabilities, such as Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity. Test the device's cameras and audio capabilities. Create test reports and document results of the testing. Continuously improve the testing process and documentation. Schedule and attend daily meetings with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like Samsung, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Google, etc. to collaborate on joint test for ongoing projects. Go through and understand the scope of the test plan for a device or network (NW) feature and test with OEMs. Supervise the OEM user case scenario runs mentioned in the test plan driven by client. Verify the end-to-end call flow of a scenario, and make sure it meets the passing criteria as per the expected result. Capture the NW traces using Wireshark from stability tools bundle (STB) tracing tool and analyze those traces to make sure the expected results are met from the NW side as well as per 3gpp specifications. Create JIRA intakes for tracking issues. Work with core/development teams on troubleshooting calls to help resolve the issues if any. Work with internal teams to provision SIM cards for any specific requirements for a project. Provide SIM cards to the OEMs when they come to test in the lab. Control the switches and attenuators, from the lab PCs during OEMs lab tests. Conduct log analysis by using various tracing tools like QXDM, ELT, Shannon, XCal, Apex. Work with RAN teams like Nokia and Ericsson for the configuration of various user case scenarios. Make changes on the Ericsson and Nokia RAN nodes as and when needed to tweak radio signals. Keep reference devices in check for the assigned lab chambers. Plan for the next day's lab schedule and notify the OEMs accordingly. Notify OEMs of the lab schedule for the next day.
Requirements: Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Mechanical), or Computer Science plus 4 years of experience in the job offered or related position.
Must have:
4 years of device and network troubleshooting experience in a lab.
4 years of experience with device communication (chipset), OS and application layer.
4 years of experience with LTE, 5G, and VoLTE.
3 years of experience analyzing and collecting QXDM/QCAT logs.
1 year of experience with Lab Chambers configuration including gNB, attenuators, switches, and IP network.
1 year of experience with XCAL, and Wireshark.
Able to work from any location within the US. Travel required to various unanticipated locations throughout the US.
Location: Raleigh, NC and unanticipated locations throughout the US.
