Retirement Plan Services Technology group builds and maintains the applications and platforms supporting Schwab's retirement plan business, one of the leading providers of retirement plan services for medium to large-sized companies in the U.S. Our teams deliver high-quality solutions which enable employees of the companies we serve to create secure financial futures. As a Lead Software Engineer in Retirement Plan Services Technology, you will be a technical leader for multiple development teams. You will work across teams to drive them to consistently produce high-quality output by providing guidance and support for all facets of software delivery, including design, development, testing, deployment, tooling, and support. You will serve as a strong, versatile hands-on technical lead to deliver solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

More specifically, in this role you will:
- Interpret business requirements and strategies across multiple teams, articulating capabilities, problem statements, and gaps to appropriate audiences
- Continually evaluate technology effectiveness and interoperability of complex systems, influencing roadmap and direction of applications and platforms
- Assist in presenting proposed future state and strategy to business and IT leaders
- Lead major business projects which impact a business unit or entire function
- Make decisions that involve more than technical considerations, including the "buy vs. build", by evaluating both the financial and technical impact
What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 10+ years of .NET design and development experience
- 3+ years in an enterprise architecture role leading
- Demonstrated expertise leading projects and developing solutions using object-oriented design, Microsoft SQL Server, SOAP and REST web services, CI/CD
- A strong knowledge of, and demonstrated expertise in, software design, development, testing, maintenance, and support
- Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport with and influence team members, peers, and partners
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex technical issues and solutions to peers and partners
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban)
- Experience with Test Driven Development and automated testing design
- Experience with the Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo)
- Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as PCF, Google Cloud Platform, and AWS
- Financial Services industry experience
