Job Details

One of our clients in Oregon is urgently looking to fill a position for an Azure Engineer (Cosmos DB for MongoDB).

Please Note: This is only 3 days' per week job

Duration: 3 months

Location: Remote

Hourly: Open as per experience

Must-to-Have Skills:

  • Proven experience with Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MongoDB and the Mongo DB API including data modeling, aggregation framework, and performance tuning.
  • Experience in Azure Cloud Services, including networking, identity management, and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and compliance (HIPAA).
  • Experience with data connectivity and Cybersecurity best practices in mixed cloud / on prem application environments.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL vs. relational database design principles.
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
  • Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and data serialization formats.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices, especially for database environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or Log Analytics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, and/or Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Azure Cosmos DB Developer Specialty certification.
  • Associate Database Administrator -Mongo certification.
  • Experience with other Azure databases (e.g., Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory).
  • Experience in cybersecurity audit for HIPAA focused on both the Security and Privacy rules.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design Cosmos DB (MongoDB API) solution on Azure for high-availability and scalability.
  • Design solution network architecture for a hybrid web application with cloud database and on-prem application servers
  • Assess solution cost based on metrics, best practice, and experience.
  • Lead resolution of database, network architecture, and security issues with the solution.
  • Evaluate database structures and integration strategies proposed by a 3rd party developer.
  • Monitor solution database, network architecture, and security to establish baselines
  • Direct implementation of data replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Audit security for best practices including encryption, role-based access control, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Optimize Cosmos DB for Mongo DB solution s cloud configuration for both cost savings and performance requirements.
  • Document estimates, configuration, and security mitigations.
