Job Details

Role: Solution Architect EPIC

Location: 100% Remote (Durham, NC)

Duration: 6+ months (contract to hire)

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 12+ years of overall experience.
  • A minimum of 7-10+ years of experience in healthcare IT, with significant focus on technical architecture, major system development, and implementation, including hands-on experience deploying and managing systems within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
  • 7 years' experience in the Epic EHR system and its various modules.
  • 7 years' experience with healthcare workflows, standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR), and terminology.
  • 10 years' experience with enterprise software implementation and integration.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, SQL) and database concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to balance technical details with business goals and lead technical projects.

Certifications:
Relevant Epic certifications along with cloud-specific certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical design and architecture: Design, develop, and deploy clinical application technology solutions within the Epic ecosystem. Create architectural designs, technical specifications, and integration requirements based on client and business needs.
  • Cloud Integration & Migration: Design strategies for migrating Epic environments, data warehouses, and integrated applications to public or private cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Infrastructure Optimization: Optimize cloud resource utilization to manage costs, improve performance, and ensure scalability and high availability of healthcare systems.
  • DevOps & Automation: Leverage DevOps principles and tools for automated deployment, configuration management, and monitoring of cloud-based Epic solutions.
  • Project leadership: Lead large-scale projects from inception to deployment, including implementations, upgrades, and conversions. Manage project scope, schedule, status, and documentation.
  • Workflow optimization: Engineer and optimize existing clinical and operational workflows within Epic to improve efficiency and align with best practices.
  • Collaboration and communication: Act as a liaison between technical teams, business stakeholders, and clinical staff. Communicate technical concepts to various audiences and facilitate requirements gathering.
  • System management and support: Provide technical guidance for system upgrades and new module implementations. Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis for performance or availability problems.
  • Compliance and strategy: Ensure solutions comply with IT standards and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on industry trends and recommend strategic innovations to improve system performance and business value.
  • Validation and guidance: Guide build teams to ensure technical accuracy and design integrity without necessarily performing the build itself. Participate in establishing testing criteria.
