Data Governance Analyst / Data Steward

LOCATIONS: DALLAS, TX || TAMPA, FL || JERSEY CITY, NJ

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Governance Analyst / Data Steward to play a key role in advancing the organization s data governance and data quality initiatives. This position is ideal for a professional with strong analytical capabilities, a collaborative mindset, and a background in working across both business and technology teams to ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define, implement, and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
• Act as a data steward for one or more critical data domains (e.g., client data, product data, reference data), ensuring accurate and consistent data definitions.
• Work with data owners to maintain and publish authoritative data definitions and metadata in enterprise data catalogs.
• Monitor, identify, and track data quality issues; conduct root cause analysis and support remediation activities.
• Assist with the implementation, configuration, and adoption of enterprise data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
• Support data lineage documentation to enhance transparency and traceability of data flows across systems.
• Help ensure organizational compliance with internal data standards and external regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain data stewardship artifacts, including data dictionaries, lineage maps, and standard operating procedures.
• Contribute to the continued development and maturity of the enterprise data governance framework under the direction of the Data Governance Lead.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, or a related data management role.
• Experience working with data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of data quality concepts, data lifecycle management, metadata, and data lineage.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
• Experience in documenting business and technical metadata, and creating data dictionaries.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to data (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX) is a plus.
