RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in San Diego, CA that is seeking a Principal/Tech Lead C/Embedded Engineer.
Responsibilities:
* Leads the development, modification, and testing of software units per corporate processes
* Establishes and enforces strong software engineering practices across teams
* Identifies and addresses software process gaps with peers
* Provides technical guidance to major programs and engineering teams
* Trains, mentors, and develops junior team members
* Guides strategic design and architecture decisions
* Creates and reviews software design and requirements specifications
* Influences test strategy and supports validation activities
* Develops training procedures and materials
* Evaluates and recommends tools, technologies, and processes
* Prepares project status reports and manages projects to completion
* Reviews final project documentation for accuracy
* Acts as a subject matter expert and consultant to management
* Addresses issues impacting design success and future concepts
* Supports other departments and considers project-wide impacts
* Maintains knowledge of the competitive landscape and regulatory strategy
* Leads design reviews and maintains design history files
* Represents the software development team with external entities
* Analyzes returned products to determine root cause of failure
* Ensures compliance with company policies and legal requirements
* Participates in daily scrums for all projects
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience
* 10 years of experience in embedded or mobile software for medical devices or related areas
* Deep knowledge and experience with formal software
* Skilled at fostering effective information exchange between diverse groups
* Ability to scope, estimate, and track large-scale development projects
* Skilled at translating high-level requirements into software design and implementation
* Able to lead cooperative work efforts within and between teams
* Adept at leading change initiatives and reallocating resources to meet new objectives
* Able to assert ideas and persuade others with relevant information
* Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) preferred
* Experience in C* programming language preferred for embedded software engineers
* Experience with device driver development and software/system debugging
* Experienced with software life cycle development for medical devices
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
