Position: HPC Systems Admin

Location: Austin, TX

Duration: 12+ months contract

Job Description:

Project Overview: The purpose of this Statement of Work is to define the activities and responsibilities of the contractor hired to manage and support the High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems within Center of Excellence Team. The contractor will ensure the optimal performance, scalability, reliability, and security of HPC resources essential for scientific computing and data analysis.

Scope of Work:

  1. System Management and Maintenance:
    1. Administer HPC infrastructure, including installation, configuration, patching, and updates of operating systems and software.
    2. Perform regular system performance tuning and resource optimization to maximize operational efficiency.
  2. User Support and Training:
    1. Provide technical assistance to HPC users, addressing issues related to software usage, job scheduling, and system access.
    2. Develop and conduct training sessions for users on effective HPC utilization and best practices.
  3. Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
    1. Implement system monitoring tools to track performance metrics and detect anomalies.
    2. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, minimizing downtime.
  4. Security and Compliance:
    1. Ensure systems adhere to organizational security policies and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
    2. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, processes, and changes.
    2. Provide periodic reports on system performance, resource utilization, and any incidents addressed.

Deliverables:

  • Fully operational and optimized HPC systems.
  • User support documentation and training materials.
  • System performance and audit reports.
  • Issue resolution log and recommendations for improvements.
