Position Title: Senior IT Architect
Location: Linthicum, MD (Hybrid onsite 2 days a week Tues & Thurs)
Clearance Requirements: Public Trust (or ability to obtain)
Position Status: Long Term Contract
Pay Rate: $70/hr
Position Description
We re seeking a Senior IT Architect with deep expertise in modern web architecture, cloud infrastructure, and data modeling to lead high-impact digital transformation initiatives. This role is ideal for a seasoned technologist who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about designing scalable, secure, and future-ready systems.
As a strategic contributor, you ll guide the transition from legacy platforms to modern architectures, focusing on information flows, data exchange, and standardization. You ll collaborate across teams to deliver robust solutions using Node.js, Java, Spring, Angular, and cloud-native technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and develop scalable web applications using Node.js, Spring, Angular, and Java frameworks
Lead end-to-end solution delivery from design through deployment
Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues across multi-tier architectures
Refactor legacy codebases and implement clean, maintainable solutions
Provide technical leadership and mentorship across cross-functional teams
Support transition planning and data modeling for enterprise modernization
Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate deployments using Docker, AWS EC2, and CI/CD pipelines
Conduct research and documentation to support advanced troubleshooting and system optimization
Required Skills & Education
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (Master s preferred)
10+ years of experience architecting and implementing multi-tier web solutions
5+ years of hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript frameworks, and cloud-native development
Strong programming skills in Java, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, JSON
Proven experience deploying solutions on Linux-based AWS EC2 infrastructure using Docker containers
Familiarity with DevOps automation, container orchestration, and virtualization technologies
Experience with Test-Driven Development and tools like Selenium, Cucumber, Protractor
Bonus:
Experience developing mobile applications for iOS or Android platforms
Demonstrated success leading major IT implementation efforts and mentoring technical teams
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
