Role: DevOps Engineer
Location: Remote
Job Type: Ongoing Contract
Rate: $14,000/month
Type: ship is Required due to Federal Project- Ability to pass enhanced background screen (criminal, financial, drug) for Public Trust clearance.

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines that support the continuous integration and delivery of software across multiple environments. This role focuses on automation, scalability, and infrastructure reliability through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically using Terraform.

Key Responsibilities:

CI/CD & GitLab:

  • Build reusable pipeline templates, jobs, and stages for consistency

  • Configure GitLab Runners and manage variables/secrets per environment

  • Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot failures, and resolve misconfigurations

  • Implement GitOps practices for infrastructure version control

  • Integrate CI/CD with automated testing, security scanning, and monitoring tools

  • Optimize pipeline stages for reduced build/deployment times

  • Automate rollback, promotion, and approval steps for smooth releases

  • Maintain pipeline health using metrics and dashboards

Terraform & Infrastructure Automation:

  • Maintain and enhance existing Terraform modules and codebase

  • Perform Terraform code reviews and collaborate on architecture decisions

  • Manage Terraform state files, backends (e.g., S3, Terraform Cloud), and secret integration

  • Troubleshoot provisioning issues and perform root cause analysis

Containerization & Image Management:

  • Automate image rebuild workflows and integrate them into CI/CD

  • Document image change history and audit trails

  • Roll out updated images to ECS or other container orchestration platforms

  • Conduct vulnerability scans and resolve security issues

Documentation & Collaboration:

  • Document pipeline structures, improvements, and best practices

  • Track infrastructure workflows and architecture for internal use and compliance

  • Log incidents, changes, and performance metrics for reporting and analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform

  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Git-based workflows

  • Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD

  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash)

  • Experience with containerized application deployment and optimization

  • Familiarity with artifact repositories and container registries

  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect Associate)

  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and services

  • Strong passion for automation and consistency in DevOps practices

  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
