Job Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and design-focused UX Tester to uphold the highest standards of user experience, interaction quality, and visual fidelity across Google TV and Android TV platforms. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of UX principles, TV interface patterns, and 10-foot design experience, ensuring all UI components meet exact design specifications prior to launch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary guardian of UX quality across Google TV and Android TV products, ensuring the final experience aligns with approved UX/UI design specifications.
  • Identify, document, and manage UX-specific defects, focusing on visual discrepancies, interaction inconsistencies, animation fidelity, and behavior deviations.
  • Demonstrate a strong design eye with an intuitive grasp of UX, visual hierarchy, typography, spacing, motion design, and interaction patterns tailored for TV ecosystems.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers to internalize all design details including:
    • Focus states
    • Animation timings & easing curves
    • Content scaling
    • Accessibility (A11y) requirements
    • Remote/D-pad navigation flows
  • Proactively test user journeys, edge cases, and dynamic UI states to identify nuanced UX defects not usually caught by functional testing.
  • File high-quality bug reports with clear reproduction steps, visual evidence, expected vs. actual behavior, and severity assessment.
  • Track all issues aggressively through resolution and verification stages, ensuring no UX inconsistency reaches production.
  • Special emphasis on 10-foot experience testing, validating UI behavior on large screens, remote-based navigation, and focus management.
  • Validate remote interactions including:
    • D-pad logic
    • Focus retention & movement
    • Latency sensitivity
    • Overscroll behavior
  • Partner with development, product, and QA teams to ensure UX integrity throughout the lifecycle.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in UX Testing, Interaction Testing, or Visual QA.
  • Strong understanding of UX and Interaction Design principles, especially for TV, OTT apps, or 10-foot UI environments.
  • Deep familiarity with:
    • Remote/D-pad navigation
    • Focus-based UI systems
    • Animation validation
    • A11y / Accessibility testing
  • Experience testing Android TV or Google TV platforms highly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret design documentation (mockups, motion specs, redlines, Figma files).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and passion for pixel-perfect UI behavior.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to advocate for UX quality.
  • Ability to work effectively with designers, engineers, and PMs in a cross-functional environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with 10-foot UX design, large-screen UI, or OTT platform testing.
  • Exposure to automation or workflow optimization in UX testing.
  • Familiarity with TV app performance considerations (UI latency, rendering, navigation speed).
