Servicepoint has a customer seeking a 3D Software Engineer for a 4+ month Hybrid opportunity located in Los Altos CA.
Option 1: 4-day workweek (10-hour days) with Fridays off.
Option 2: Standard workweek (4 days remote, at least 1 day onsite).
Candidate must be local.
The hiring manager is usually onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays to perform interviews which in person will be required!

The customer highly prefers someone with a customer service type of personality who gets along well with others, can collaborate with other teams, can take initiative and be a self-starter. This is generally what they look for in any role. If someone isn t personable and polished sounding they will pass.
Generally, the place operates in a way where someone would touch on a lot of different technologies and things and collaborate with other teams. You d want someone who is comfortable with that, rather than someone who wants to work more siloed focusing on one thing.
Core Technical Skills
1. 3D Graphics & Rendering
o Expertise in 3D modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, and animation.
o Familiarity with real-time rendering pipelines and optimization.
2. AR/VR Development
o Experience building AR/VR applications for devices like HoloLens, Oculus, Meta Quest, or similar.
o Knowledge of spatial computing, immersive interaction, and motion tracking.
3. Game/Graphics Engines
o Proficiency with Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar engines for real-time interactive experiences.
o Understanding of engine workflows and scripting (C#, C++, Blueprints).
4. Programming & Software Development
o Strong coding skills in C++, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
o Knowledge of 3D graphics APIs (OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan) is a plus.
5. Simulation & Physics
o Experience with physics simulations, collision detection, and VR interaction mechanics.
o Optional: haptics, motion capture, or robotics integration experience.
Our customer is seeking a talented 3D/AR/VR Engineer to join our research and development team. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement immersive 3D, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) experiences to support our automotive research, simulation, and human-machine interface initiatives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including AI researchers, software engineers, and product designers, to create state-of-the-art visualization tools and interactive experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop high-quality 3D models, AR/VR applications, and interactive simulations to support research and prototyping.
Implement real-time rendering, physics simulations, and visual effects for immersive experiences.
Collaborate with AI, robotics, and automotive teams to integrate AR/VR solutions with vehicle data and simulation environments.
Optimize AR/VR applications for performance, scalability, and usability across multiple platforms (desktop, mobile, and wearable devices).
Maintain and improve 3D asset pipelines, tools, and workflows.
Conduct user testing and iterate on designs based on feedback to ensure intuitive and effective experiences.
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in 3D graphics, AR, VR, and interactive simulation.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Design, or a related field.
Strong experience with 3D graphics engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
Solid understanding of 3D modeling, shading, lighting, and animation techniques.
Experience developing AR/VR applications for multiple platforms (HoloLens, Oculus, VR/AR headsets, mobile devices).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum: 3 years relevant experience to contribute effectively.
Ideal/Strong: 5+ years for full independence and ability to lead complex simulations and AR/VR projects.
3 5 years of hands-on experience in AR/VR or 3D development with Unity or Unreal Engine.
Experience creating and optimizing 3D models, simulations, or interactive environments.
Some exposure to AR/VR hardware integration (HoloLens, Oculus, VR headsets) and physics/robotics simulation.
Optional but highly valuable: experience working with AI/robotics or automotive systems in a research or applied R&D environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AR/VR hardware integration, motion capture, or spatial computing.
Knowledge of physics-based simulations and haptics for immersive experiences.
Background in automotive systems, human-machine interfaces, or robotics applications.
Familiarity with AI/ML applications in 3D environments.
Simulation & Physics
Experience with physics simulations, collision detection, and VR interaction mechanics.
Haptics or motion capture integration experience.
UX/UI for Immersive Experiences
Designing intuitive interactions for AR/VR applications.
Understanding human factors and ergonomics in immersive environments.
Optimization & Performance
Profiling and optimizing 3D content for high frame rates across devices.
Managing resource-constrained environments (mobile, wearable devices).
Cloud & Data Integration
Familiarity with integrating AR/VR applications with real-time data streams or vehicle telemetry.
Automotive or Robotics Knowledge
Prior experience with vehicle systems, robotics, or human-machine interfaces.
