Frontend Developer

Reporting to the Head of Frontend Development, the Frontend Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality, accessible, and privacy compliant Shopify experience. This role requires a deep understanding of Shopify Liquid, modern frontend technologies, and best practices in web accessibility and data privacy. The ideal candidate combines technical proficiency with design and a passion for creating seamless, performant, and compliant user experiences that drive brand and business impact.

Responsibilities:

  • 2+ years of experience in frontend development, with a focus on Shopify and ecommerce platforms.

  • Strong proficiency in Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.

  • Experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites, including theme customization, plugin integration, and ensuring consistency with brand standards.

  • Experience implementing accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 or higher) and working with Level Access or similar accessibility platforms.

  • Familiarity with data privacy frameworks and cookie consent management, preferably with OneTrust.

  • Solid understanding of Shopify themes, custom templates, API integrations, and third-party app configurations.

  • Experience using GitHub for version control, branching, pull requests, and collaborative code review workflows.

  • Experience collaborating with designers, backend developers, and marketing teams to deliver cohesive brand experiences.

  • Understanding of SEO best practices, page speed optimization, and cross-browser compatibility.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to maintaining coding standards and documentation.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

  • Preferred: Experience working in an environment that maintains multiple brands or sub-brands, ensuring consistency across distinct digital identities.


Skillset / Experience:

  • Develop, customize, and maintain Shopify/WordPress themes and storefronts using Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Collaborate with the Frontend development team to ensure consistent brand implementation and technical alignment across all web properties.

  • Ensure all web experiences meet accessibility standards through testing, remediation, and partnership with Level Access and AudioEye.

  • Implement and maintain privacy compliance solutions using OneTrust, including consent banners, cookie management, and privacy automation workflows.

  • Partner with design and marketing teams to bring creative concepts to life while ensuring performance, accessibility, and scalability.

  • Optimize site performance, ensuring fast load times and mobile-first responsiveness.

  • Support integrations with Shopify apps, marketing tools, and backend systems to enhance functionality and user experience.

  • Conduct regular audits of accessibility, data privacy, and page performance, identifying and implementing improvements.

  • Stay current on emerging frontend trends, Shopify platform updates, and web standards to continually improve site quality and maintain compliance.

  • Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and best practice development within the Frontend team.
