Software Engineer- Journeyman
Location: Remote*
Description: Seeking a Software Engineer- Journeyman to support our development efforts under the PRISM MATOC Task Order for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (OASD M&RA). This role focuses on assisting with the design and implementation of software solutions, supporting engineering and operational needs. The engineer will contribute to prototyping and data management, enhancing M&RA's mission in personnel policy, readiness, and financial resilience through technical expertise.
This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and developing software solutions to support engineering and operational requirements aligned with OASD M&RA priorities.
- Support prototyping processes, including iterative development and testing, to deliver functional software components.
- Contribute to data management and wrangling efforts to ensure accurate and efficient system integration.
- Participate in testing and validation of software applications, adhering to performance and security standards.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to integrate software solutions into broader program objectives.
- Assist in maintaining documentation for software designs, updates, and testing procedures.
- Evaluate and implement technical updates to enhance system capabilities and address mission needs.
- Liaise with team members to align technical efforts with policy and readiness goals.
- Maintain currency with DoD software development standards, protocols, and security requirements.
- Support cross-functional coordination to ensure seamless project execution.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience in software development within DoD or federal environments, with familiarity in prototyping and data management.
- Competence in database management and data wrangling to support system integration.
- Ability to work on technical projects in high-uncertainty settings and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools relevant to DoD systems (e.g., Java, Python, SQL).
- Experience with software testing and validation processes to meet security and performance benchmarks.
- Capacity to collaborate with senior engineers and contribute under pressure.
- Operational working knowledge of DoD software development life cycles and security protocols.
- Familiarity with DoD personnel policy and readiness support systems.
- Ability to potentially travel up to 25% of the time as needed*
- Active Secret Clearance or the ability to qualify and obtain a Secret clearance.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; Master's degree a plus.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including 1+ year supporting federal development projects.
- 1+ year of experience assisting with prototyping and data management for government programs.
