Job Details

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Superintendent / Project Engineer to join our construction team in a hybrid capacity. This role bridges field operations and technical project support, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality. Reporting to the Superintendent and Project Manager, this position plays a critical role in both on-site supervision and office-based coordination.

Responsibilities
Supervise daily construction activities to maintain alignment with project schedules, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks.

Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and labor crews to ensure seamless site operations.

Conduct routine site walks to monitor progress and compliance with plans and specifications.

Lead daily meetings, safety briefings, and toolbox talks to promote a productive and safe work environment.

Assist with troubleshooting field issues and escalating to project leadership when necessary.
Maintain and update project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, drawings, and change orders.

Track and manage logs for RFIs, punch lists, and submittals to support timely project delivery.

Assist with schedule development, budget tracking, and status reporting.

Support procurement efforts by issuing bid packages, reviewing scopes, and preparing subcontract agreements.

Liaise with consultants and design teams to address technical questions and ensure design intent is upheld.

Utilize construction software tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) for project documentation and tracking.
Maintain and update project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, drawings, and change orders.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred (not required).

Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction, with involvement in both project engineering and field supervision.

Demonstrated experience managing technical documentation and supporting jobsite activities.

Skills & Competencies:

Solid understanding of construction documents, methodologies, and field operations.

Proficiency in tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.

Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of balancing field and office duties.

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to coordinate teams and communicate with stakeholders.

Adaptive and solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail.

Preferred Certifications:

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety

First Aid/CPR

LEED Green Associate or AP (optional)
