Job Title: Sr. OSS Architect
Location: Irvine, CA (Hybrid Preferred / On-Site Priority)
Job Type: Contract (6-month contract with possible contract-to-hire)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior OSS Architect to lead the architecture and development of software systems that support In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) services. This role will lead end-to-end OSS/BSS architecture design, guide technical teams, and ensure high-performance, scalable solutions across operational and business support platforms.

You will collaborate across engineering, network, product, and operations teams, serving as a technical thought leader in connectivity architecture and modern OSS/BSS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and architect OSS/BSS systems supporting IFC services (onboarding, commissioning, billing, service delivery)
  • Define and manage technical requirements for performance, security, scalability, and quality
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration (dev, QA, network engineering, product, ops, vendors)
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards & regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical mentorship and leadership; guide design reviews and test planning
  • Monitor and optimize system performance; ensure SLA adherence
  • Research emerging technologies and build prototypes/POCs
  • Oversee ServiceNow OSS platform implementations (TSM/TSOM)
  • Document architecture with industry-standard modeling/diagram methods

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in software development/engineering roles focused on OSS/BSS systems
  • 5+ years in an architecture/technical leadership capacity for large-scale distributed systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Deep expertise in OSS/BSS architecture, customer subscription management, billing & provisioning
  • Experience with ServiceNow OSS (TSM / TSOM)
  • Hands-on experience integrating platforms such as Salesforce (Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, API design, REST, API gateways (Apigee/MuleSoft)
  • Cloud computing and orchestration: containers, Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures
  • Telecom domain knowledge (preferably satellite connectivity)
  • Network management & monitoring experience
  • Data analytics knowledge (Tableau, Power BI, ELK, AWS Quicksight)
  • CI/CD, Agile development, Jira, GitLab, Jenkins, Confluence
  • Strong communication, documentation, leadership, and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience

  • AWS or ServiceNow certifications
  • OSS/BSS vendor platforms: Ericsson, Amdocs, Openet, etc.
  • B2B mediation and billing experience
  • Experience creating artifacts, designs, roadmaps, diagrams
  • Understanding of observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering practice
