The Secretary of State, Information Services needs a Digital Content Accessibility Specialist to evaluate browser-based applications for compliance with WCAG 2.1 ( and Section 508 ( standards in accordance with Maine s Digital Accessibility Policy. There are two new applications that are in development and require review, including a vendor provided solution for CEC and an in-house developed modernized BMV application. This position will be responsible to following State of Maine guidelines to perform testing, propose solutions and create a final accessibility compliance report for each application.
There are two browser-based web applications scheduled to go-live within the next few months. An initial assessment of accessibility for one application had several findings. To ensure that both applications are being developed with WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 standards, the Department of the Secretary of State requires a position to work with both agencies and developers to ensure appropriate accessibility standards are met.
4 years of experience and knowledge with accessibility testing browser-based web applications. Demonstrated success with documenting findings and providing digital presentation of any issues.
- Anticipates, identifies, tracks, and resolves issues and risks affecting your own work and work of the Test and/or Application Teams.
- Develop contingency plans as necessary.
- Research problems and provide guidance as needed
- Develop understanding of system business requirements supported by the Test team
- Participates in assembly or product test execution as required.
- Schedules the design of structured walk-throughs or inspections; resolve issues.
- Aware of new developments in industry and processes and ability to apply to work as appropriate.
