Your Opportunity

Join our tunnel inspection and design team in a full-time project delivery and leadership role collaborating with both engineers and technicians from various disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and geologic. Perform tunnel and geologic condition assessments, write and/or assist with writing of inspection reports per the National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS), and assist with management and growth of the team The opportunity to grow the position is endless. The candidate will go to various sites and projects throughout Colorado, Nevada, and other states to provide hands-on inspections of tunnel elements per the Specifications of the National Tunnel Inventory (SNBI). Office duties will include management, proposal creation, cost estimating, report development, and quality control.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Perform the duties of a NTIS qualified team leader in the field
  • Assist in the management and coordination of tunnel inspection teams
  • Ensure tunnel inspection schedules are being met as required
  • Plan, manage, coordinate, and execute inspection of tunnel assets in the field
  • Perform structural and geologic evaluation and mapping of tunnel liner and other critical elements
  • Understand and assign correct element level condition states of tunnel all elements per the SNBI
  • Lead the development of elemental condition assessments and technical reporting
  • Interface with tunnel clients and owners including presentation of inspection findings
  • Work independently in addressing complex tasks in a time-sensitive environment "

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Thorough understanding of National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS) and the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) all supporting documentation and practices
  • Supervise professional staff including technicians, engineers, inspectors, and other personnel as assigned
  • Ability to serve as a qualifying team leader for tunnel inspections per NTIS and lead teams in the field
  • Ability to lead and participate in the development of thorough technical reports
  • Ability to assist in evaluating geologic conditions and mapping per industry standards
  • Excellent writing, organizational, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to clients
  • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, reports, and evaluations
  • Ability to travel (up to 40%) and work in the field
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, operate and work in mobile elevated work platforms, work at elevation up to 11,000', and be on your feet for full shifts

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering, Master's degree or higher a plus
  • Licensed as Professional Engineer and/or Professional Geologist in the State of Colorado or ability to obtain Colorado Licensure within 6-months
  • 5-10 years Minimum of applicable tunnel and bridge inspection and/or design experience
  • Successful completion of required FHWA-NHI courses to qualify as certified NTIS/NBIS team leader

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
