Rate: $50.01/hr

Position Overview

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking a Network/Telecom Specialist Tier I to join the E911 NMAC Network Operations Center (NOC). This role is responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the AT&T ESInet (Emergency Services Internet Network), providing incident response, collaborating with site technicians and customers, and tracking issues to resolution.

Candidates will operate in a 24/7 environment, maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while ensuring high-quality client support and communication.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot network systems and AT&T ESInet.

  • Provide incident response and resolution for network and telecom issues.

  • Communicate effectively with site technicians, clients, and internal teams.

  • Document system issues, resolutions, and maintain organized records.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.

  • Support VOIP technologies and network cabling/topology as needed.

  • Maintain compliance with established NOC processes and SLAs.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or 3 5 years relevant experience.

  • 3+ years experience with operating systems, networking, firewalls, switches, anti-virus, and system backups.

  • 3+ years knowledge of at least one vendor: Juniper, VMware, Microsoft, Cisco.

  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.

  • Knowledge of network cabling, classification, and topology.

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of handling multiple support cases.

  • Excellent client communication and customer service skills.


Preferred / Highly Desired Skills

  • 3+ years experience in a NOC environment.

  • 3+ years experience with VOIP technologies.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
