Windows Automation Engineer
AL, GA, MS, or IL - primarily remote but potential for hybrid in future
6+ months contract to hire
$50-$60/hr W2
The Infrastructure Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated solutions that streamline and enhance IT infrastructure operations. With a strong foundation in Windows administration, including hands-on experience with IIS and middleware technologies, this role bridges traditional system management with modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. The engineer continues to support and manage Windows environments while increasingly focusing on automating routine tasks such as server provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment using tools like Ansible, PowerShell DSC, or Terraform. This position is ideal for someone who has transitioned from manual administration to scalable automation, driving efficiency, consistency, and reliability across enterprise systems.
Must have skills: Windows Administration, IIS, Apache, Web Application Support, Infrastructure as Code, Scripting - PowerShell, .NET, Configuration Management (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform)
Nice to have: Load Balancing - F5, Networking, Firewalls
Day to Day: Windows administration including server builds, middleware installation and configuration, and application troubleshooting with a strong desire to further automate these recurring tasks. Help lay the foundation to move more to Infrastructure as Code using deep technical Windows administration background and scripting expertise.

The compensation range for this position is $50 to $60/hr W2
(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
