Role: Sr. Security Engineer
Location: Columbus, OH

Role Overview:
The Senior Security Engineer plays a dual role: hands-on security engineering and strategic leadership. The position drives enterprise-wide transformation by designing forward-looking security architectures, enabling cloud adoption, and embedding security into digital innovation initiatives. Beyond technical depth, this role requires leadership across hybrid environments, global programs, and matrixed teams, establishing frameworks, governance, and delivery models that scale across the enterprise.
The Senior Security Engineer plays a dual role: hands-on security engineering and strategic leadership. The position drives enterprise-wide transformation by designing forward-looking security architectures, enabling cloud adoption, and embedding security into digital innovation initiatives. Beyond technical depth, this role requires leadership across hybrid environments, global programs, and matrixed teams, establishing frameworks, governance, and delivery models that scale across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Architecture & Strategy Lead Zero Trust, SASE, and cloud-native security programs; design scalable reference architectures; respond rapidly to global incidents with tactical execution and playbook development.
- Threat Modeling & Risk Management Conduct security assessments for applications, APIs, containers, and third-party integrations; align with NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS.
- Cloud & DevSecOps Enablement Secure AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform environments; integrate security into CI/CD pipelines; enforce secure coding and infrastructure-as-code policies.
- Automation & Engineering Develop SOAR playbooks, automation scripts (Python/PowerShell/Bash), and integrate SIEM/SOAR platforms like Splunk, Sentinel, XSOAR.
- Detection & Response Create custom detection rules, enhance SOC/IR workflows, and lead purple team exercises.
- Cross-Functional Leadership Partner with architects, executives, and product teams; embed security into M&A, AI/ML adoption, cloud migration, and digital modernization initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years in cybersecurity engineering/architecture; 3+ years leading transformation programs.
- Strong expertise in cloud-native security (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), Zero Trust, and DevSecOps.
- Hands-on with scripting (Python, Terraform, Ansible) and Kubernetes/container security.
- Certifications preferred: CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, GIAC Cloud Security, AWS/Azure Security Specialty.
Soft Skills:
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and executive engagement skills.
- Ability to build security frameworks and governance models from the ground up.
Preferred:
- Regulated industry background (finance, healthcare, government).
- Familiarity with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA compliance requirements.
