Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) SME to provide cybersecurity expertise in support of a critical Department of Defense (DoD) initiative focused on space-based operations and national defense. The ISSE will play an integral role in designing, securing, and validating advanced information systems to ensure compliance with DoD security standards and the Risk Management Framework (RMF). This position will involve working with cross-functional teams to create resilient systems capable of protecting sensitive data and assets in dynamic space environments.

Contract Overview:

Golden Dome is a national-level, whole-of-nation initiative in which you will play a critical role in advancing next-generation homeland defense capabilities. If you are seeking a fast-paced position focused on developing innovative software for the Space-Based Interceptor mission, this opportunity is designed for you.

Responsibilities:

As the ISSE, your responsibilities will include:

System Security Design and Implementation:
  • Develop system architectures and security designs that align with mission requirements and meet RMF and DoD security policies.
  • Integrate cybersecurity solutions into spacecraft systems, ground systems, and mission operations.
  • Apply security controls and mitigation strategies throughout the system lifecycle to address threats and vulnerabilities.

Risk Management Framework (RMF) Compliance:
  • Lead the implementation of RMF processes to ensure secure system development, deployment, and operation.
  • Create and maintain documentation for Authorization to Operate (ATO) submissions, including System Security Plans (SSPs) and security assessment reports.
  • Coordinate with Authorizing Officials and other DoD stakeholders to obtain and sustain the system's ATO.

Cybersecurity Testing and Validation:
  • Plan, execute, and oversee vulnerability scans, penetration testing, and security assessments for space-based systems.
  • Analyze test results and prepare recommendations for system hardening and risk reduction.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve identified security gaps and enhance system resilience.

Incident Response and Monitoring:
  • Develop and implement procedures for detecting, reporting, and responding to potential security incidents.
  • Assist operations teams with real-time cybersecurity monitoring to identify and mitigate threats.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Work closely with program managers, system architects, engineering teams, and external contractors to ensure cybersecurity requirements are met.
  • Act as the cybersecurity expert and advisor during design, testing, deployment, and operational phases of the systems.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare cybersecurity documentation, including risk analysis reports, mitigation plans, technical white papers, and system certifications.
  • Present findings and progress reports to DoD stakeholders and leadership.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience as an ISSE or in related cybersecurity roles supporting DoD programs.
  • Expertise in DoD cybersecurity regulations, including RMF, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and FISMA.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment tools, such as Nessus, Splunk, or Tenable.
  • Strong understanding of space system architectures, secure communications, and encrypted data operations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications:
  • CISSP, CEH, CISA, or similar cybersecurity certifications.
  • Experience with space-based cybersecurity systems, including satellite communications and ground stations.
  • Familiarity with advanced technologies such as autonomous system security, machine learning in cybersecurity, and quantum-resistant encryption.
  • Previous experience supporting DoD programs

Clearance Requirements
  • Active TOP SECRET (TS) clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
