DPP is seeking a Tech Writer for an entry-level opportunity with our client in Sparks, Nevada.

Work arrangement:
  • Either 100% remote or onsite
  • W2 position; 12 months
  • Must be eligible to earn a Secret US security clearance, which requires a thorough background search and ship.
Position summary:
  • The Tech Writer I is an entry-level position responsible for developing comprehensive documentation for aerospace and defense projects. This role involves working closely with subject matter experts to create clear, accurate, and detailed technical documents.
  • The Tech Writer I will utilize various engineering resources and conduct detailed reviews to ensure that all documentation meets the highest standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to obtain an in-depth understanding of various aerospace and defense systems.
  • Participate in the preparation of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) documents, various engineering documents, test plans and procedures, and operator and maintenance manuals.
  • Conduct internal and external documentation review meetings to gather feedback and incorporate necessary revisions.
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with customer requirements, company standards, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain and update documentation as systems and specifications evolve.
  • Manage and organize documentation files and records for easy accessibility.
  • Coordinate with Configuration Management (CM) staff to input documents into the CM software and route them through the review/approval/release process.
  • Either remote or onsite, can be 100% remote and in another state other than Nevada.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Proficiency with documentation tools and software such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and XML/SGML
  • Basic concept of technical writing principles, practices, and standards
  • Understanding of desktop publishing tools
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Internship or co-op experience in technical writing or a related field.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense terminology and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Ability to plan and participate in Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) preparation, technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and technical or operations manuals.
  • Experience preparing documentation with minimal input (written or verbal) from subject matter experts, such as design engineers and program managers, to prepare initial drafts and templates.
  • Familiarity in editing, layout, and production of technical documents, which include graphics, tables, and other embedded content.
  • Familiarity working with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of product and documentation requirements, verifying content meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Prior experience creating and maintaining documentation templates, layout guides, and graphics resources.
  • Understanding of internal technical reference documentation, including data libraries, training material, process/procedure guides.
  • Knowledge of techniques for reviewing, editing, and formatting business proposals, product management documents, RFP responses, marketing communications, and other organizational documents.
  • Experience with Adobe FrameMaker.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry or DoD.
Required education and experience:
  • Bachelor s degree in Technical Writing, English, Engineering, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in technical writing or a related field within the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • A higher-level degree may be substituted for experience
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
