Business Analyst Finance Role Summary
My client is seeking an experienced business analyst that will develop a new process of moving data from existing financial systems into Planview Portfolios (Enterprise One). The business analyst will be responsible for capturing requirements to design and create reports that demonstrate a project s financial performance inside and outside of Planview Portfolios.

• Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics, including building custom reports - Required
• Experience with Planview preferred; Clarity experience would work as well.

We asked the hiring manager to go into a little more detail regarding the following:

- Project Accounting - Familiarity with project budgets, creating burn-down reports, forecasts vs. actual variances, etc.

- Accounting Business Process Redesign - Ability to articulate the changes between current state and future state.

- Create Business Document Requirements - Ability to identify hard requirements versus nice-to-haves when discussing reporting requests or enhancements to the financial process and turn them into an actionable plan.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The position is responsible for collecting, interpreting, and analyzing information to provide business intelligence recommendations around how to present project financials
2. Develop presentation format for tracking workstream budgets and spends
3. Support the Planview team in driving business results with analysis and insights regarding project financials
4. Analyze financial information to create reports that enable knowledge-based decision-making around risks to the project forecast
5. Provide analytics that advise management of the underlying drivers of labor and material spend
6. Maintain confidential and sensitive information
7. Perform other duties as may be assigned by management

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Obtained Bachelor s Degree or higher in business, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent education/training/experience
• At least 8-10 years of experience gathering business and technical requirements to generate reports out of financial systems
• Must be extremely strong creating and maintaining documentation related to the Planview configuration, processes, and workflows.
• Basic accounting knowledge is mandatory (Product accounting, Cost accounting, GL accounting, Deferred / Accrued revenue, Margins analysis)
• Solid understanding of Agile development, project accounting and IT cost tracking
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas)
• Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics, including building custom reports
• Experience with a variety of projects including large collaborative programs
• Experience working in a matrix organization
• Experience in corporate finance
• Effective problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills ability to work with interdepartmental teams
• Ability to delegate, multi-task, and follow through on initiatives within a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Background working in government programs or implementing complex government projects in the areas of Health and Human Services preferred
• Experience with Planview or another PPM tool preferred
