About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Staff Lidar and Optics Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of our next-generation distance scanning hardware. This role requires deep technical expertise in Optics, Lidar, FPGA and timing systems, leadership in cross-functional engineering efforts, and the ability to architect firmware and hardware that is robust, scalable, and efficient.

What you will do:
  • Design and implement Optical and Lidar systems using microcontrollers, SoCs, FPGA, and or RTOS-based platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, and product teams to define requirements and integration strategies.
  • Drive root-cause analysis, debugging, and resolution of complex hardware-software depth measurement and computer vision systems integration issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends and contribute to strategic technical direction for distance measuring systems.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Optoelectronics.
  • 10+ years of experience in optical, and or lidar engineering with direct involvement in optical or sensor-based hardware.
  • Expertise in C/C++ for embedded systems (ARM Cortex-M/R, DSPs, or similar).
  • Experience with FPGA, RTOS-based or bare-metal systems.
  • Proven experience working with timing-critical systems, high-speed interfaces (SPI, MIPI, LVDS), and custom communication protocols.
  • Understanding of analog signal conditioning, DSP methods, laser diode drivers, photodiode front ends, and time-of-flight or FMCW principles.
  • Track record of commitment to prior employers


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with wireless protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, etc.)
  • Familiarity with safety-critical development.
  • Background in Python, Rust, or scripting for automation.

Pay Transparency:

This position offers an annual OTE pay range from $198,700 - $294,200 determined by relevant skills and experience, in addition to uncapped commission opportunities and a generous benefits plan.
