Job Summary:

We are looking for a Lead Cable Technician who will be responsible for overseeing the physical buildout and maintenance of data center infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on structured cabling, equipment installation, and construction coordination. This role leads a team of technicians in executing cabling projects, managing rack deployments, and ensuring all physical infrastructure meets operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate structured cabling projects, including copper and fiber installations, terminations, testing, and labeling.
  • Supervise the installation of racks, cabinets, PDUs, cable trays, and containment systems.
  • Interpret construction drawings, cabling diagrams, and build plans to ensure accurate implementation.
  • Collaborate with construction teams, vendors, and contractors to align on project timelines and deliverables.
  • Perform site surveys and pre-installation assessments to plan cable routes and hardware placement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI), safety regulations, and internal build procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of cabling layouts, patch panel configurations, and asset locations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cabling issues, connectivity problems, and physical layer faults.
  • Manage inventory of cabling materials, connectors, tools, and consumables.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on cabling best practices and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or trade school preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in data center cabling, low-voltage electrical work, or IT infrastructure buildouts.
  • Proficiency in fiber optic and copper cabling standards, installation techniques, and testing tools.
  • Familiarity with rack and stack procedures, cable management systems, and labeling conventions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical schematics.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in physically demanding environments, including lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces.

Preferred Certifications:

  • BICSI Installer or Technician Certification
  • OSHA 10/30
  • CompTIA Server+ or Network+
  • Manufacturer-specific cabling certifications (e.g., Panduit, Leviton, CommScope)

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
