Title: Habilitation Technician - 1st Shift (6:30am - 3:00pm) - Onsite

Description:
This position requires an individual to coach, teach, mentor, and provide direct support to members who have Developmental Disabilities (i.e., autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, or epilepsy) ranging from mild to profound. The majority of services are designed to meet the personal needs of members in the group home setting.
This position performs a variety of activities:
Provide activities and programming that encourage the development of new skills and the maintenance of present skills.
Works with members to teach or assist them in activities of daily living skills (bathing, toileting, dressing, mealtime/eating, attending day/work programs, etc.).
Performs some housekeeping duties (e.g., dusting, clothes washing, dishes, mopping, disinfecting therapy equipment and wheelchairs).
Prepares, cooks, sets up, and serves meals, as needed.
Supports mealtime techniques and service in accordance with specialized diets.
Implements the member's Person Centered Service Plan, including behavior support plan and therapeutic programs.
Participates in team meetings and discussions to develop individual support plans for the members.
Provides basic health care (e.g., medication administration).
Encourages and involves members in recreational activities at home and in the community.
Requires lifting/carrying at least 50 lbs. and pushing/pulling at least 50 lbs.
Using a computer, including email Planning activities designed to meet the specific needs of individual members
Communicating with members verbally and/ or through sign language
Time and work management Advocating for members Participating in and implementing Individual Support Plans
Cleaning and basic housekeeping Human rights
Providing personal care
Planning processes
Basic cooking
Read and write in English Understand and follow spoken and written directions
Display compassion with respect to others
Attend staff training and apply the basic principles of program training and data collection designed to meet the specific needs of members, including medication administration Use computer systems (e.g., timesheet entry, computer-based training) Apply basic physical, occupational, and speech therapy techniques
Perform proper lifting techniques and general body mechanics Use nutritional principles and special mealtime techniques
Apply behavior support techniques
Required Skills:
Must have at least 1 year of direct care experience
Preferred Skills:
Can frequently lift/carry at least 75 lbs. and pushing/pulling at least 75 lbs.
Notes:
Onsite
Shift: 6:30am - 3:00pm: will work every weekend, but days off during the week are flexible
Flexibility in schedule (i.e., working different shifts, overtime, and changing work locations) as these are 24-hour residential settings. Most schedules work nights, weekends, and holidays.
