Location: Hybrid (2 3 days/week on-site in West Sacramento, CA)
Duration: 24 Months with a possible 12-month extension
- The GenBI Data Analytics Consultant will support in modernizing the Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehouse (DW) platforms by integrating Generative BI (GenBI) and agentic AI capabilities.
- The role is part of a strategic initiative to advance client's analytics maturity through AI/ML and generative tools, data governance, and automation.
- The consultant will work closely with stakeholders to identify high-impact GenBI use cases, assess and enhance data governance frameworks, and help design and implement a scalable enterprise-level GenBI/agentic AI platform.
- This role requires both strategic foresight and hands-on experience with data analytics, architecture, and AI tools.
- Collaborate with business units to evaluate and document at least five high-impact GenBI use cases
- Conduct ROI, feasibility, and risk assessments to prioritize BI/GenBI initiatives
- Develop requirement documents including goals, data inputs, outcomes, and acceptance criteria
- Perform architecture review of existing BI/DW platforms and define a roadmap to a GenBI-enabled platform
- Design and document enterprise-level GenBI and agentic AI architecture
- Implement foundational components of GenBI use cases and platform features
- Review and recommend enhancements to current BI/DW data governance framework, standards, and tools
- Work with compliance, information security, and IT governance teams to assess and mitigate risks
- Deliver comprehensive reports, RACI matrices, and technical documentation
- Participate in stakeholder meetings, status reviews, and knowledge transfer sessions
- At least one (1) completed BI or DW engagement with a total project budget of ****0M or more
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in:
- Identifying BI use cases
- Creating KPIs, risk analyses, prioritization matrices, and implementation roadmaps
- Experience in successful development and implementation of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
- Minimum three (3) years of experience designing and implementing AI or ML use cases
- At least five (5) years of experience consulting with California state agencies, adhering to state-specific SDLC, IT policies, and the California Department of Technology's SIMM guidelines
- Technical certifications in:
- Cloud platform architecture (AWS, Azure)
- GenAI or GenBI solutions
- Proven experience in designing and building an agentic AI platform architecture for BI or GenBI
- Familiarity with project management standards (e.g., PMI PMBOK) and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Enterprise BI & Data Warehousing tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAP BI, Informatica)
- Machine Learning & AI platforms (e.g., Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, Databricks, OpenAI APIs)
- Data modeling and governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Talend, Informatica Axon)
- Strong understanding of GenAI, LLMs, and prompt engineering
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with security, privacy, and compliance for sensitive data analytics in public sector environments
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead collaborative workshops and facilitate consensus among cross-functional stakeholders
- Commitment to documentation and knowledge transfer
- High attention to detail, professionalism, and adaptability in a hybrid public sector environment
