**This is not a remote position; the candidate will be based in Raleigh NC and will be asked to travel to Charlotte data center for any hardware issues. **

Job Description:

The client seeks a contract resource to assist with the support of the department's Application Development Environment.

The resource will act as the technical Linux/Windows Administrator and maintain UCS servers in a VMware environment. This position requires the ability to work in a fast spaced environment and ability to support and resolve incident tickets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Install, maintain, and upgrade internal computer software systems used for designing and developing company products.

- Control user access and passwords

- Propose and implement systems enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.

- Monitor usage and performance

- Train personnel on system usage

- Maintain the VMware-based environments Monitor the virtual server infrastructure environment s health status.

- Be willing to travel at any time to troubleshoot any hardware issues in our data centers in Raleigh and Charlotte area.

- Research, evaluate and recommend software and hardware products.

- Provide new hardware specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth.

- Work as a team member in a fast-paced environment 24/7, 7 days a week.

- On-call support every other week and occasional weekend/holiday work required

- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 8 years' experience as a System Administrator

- Experience in Managing VMware vCenter 8.0 or newer.

- Experience in managing Nagios.

- Hands-on support of the UNIX /Windows environment including OS administration and systems support.

- Experience interacting with Security, Audit, DBA, Networking, Microsoft, and development groups.

- Experience with customer support in a time-critical environment

- Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

- Experience managing and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux on x86.

- Experience managing and maintaining Windows servers.

- Experience managing and maintaining SQL servers.

- Experience managing and maintaining storage such as Pure storage and VSAN.

- Strong shell scripting abilities

- Ability to implement Processes and Procedures creating controls and standardization across large regions.

- Business aware and focused on service delivery.

- Experience with standard office automation products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

Desired:

- Linux/Windows server Certifications a plus

- Managing UCS blade servers

Must Have Required Skills:

  • Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technology, especially with VMware's products including Horizon View, vSphere, ESXi(7 years)
  • Experience developing virtual desktop solutions using VMware technologies (Horizon View, ThinApp and vSphere). (7 years)
  • Experience administering and supporting VMware ESX/ESXi infrastructure. (7 years)
  • Experience providing technical resolution to advanced incident and problem events related to the VMware VDI infrastructure. (7 years)
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM administration including Windows and Office security updates and application package creation and deployments (7 years)
  • Experience managing Active Directory including all account provisioning, termination, file and folder permissions. (7 years)
  • Experience with Windows Server and Desktop Architecture, and with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 systems administration. (7 years)
  • Experience with SQL 2016/2019 Administration. (7 years)
  • Windows PowerShell scripting experience. (7 years)
  • Strong background and experience in networking and storage technologies. (7 years)
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the business.
