Job Overview:

UnitedHealth Group is looking for a highly skilled and versatile Full Stack Java Developer to build scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications in the healthcare domain. You will be responsible for designing and developing backend microservices using Spring Boot, dynamic and responsive UIs using React.js, and supporting automation/data transformation workflows with Python.

This is a critical position contributing to enterprise applications that support healthcare operations, provider management, and claims processing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java (Spring Boot) for backend systems.

  • Build modern, responsive, and dynamic UI components using React.js, Redux/Context API, and Material UI/Chakra UI.

  • Create and maintain backend scripts and services in Python for data transformation, analytics, and automation tasks.

  • Integrate with relational and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.

  • Leverage CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins) for automated builds, testing, and deployments.

  • Work with JWT/OAuth2 authentication and role-based access control (RBAC) for secure applications.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, story estimation, sprint planning, and code reviews.

  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, QA, and DevOps engineers in a fast-paced environment.

  • Maintain quality, scalability, and performance of the applications in a HIPAA-compliant environment.


Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Java and Spring Boot

  • 3+ years hands-on experience in React.js, including functional components, hooks, and state management

  • 2+ years experience in Python, preferably for scripting, REST APIs, or automation

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, REST principles, and asynchronous communication

  • Solid hands-on knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases

  • Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)

  • Proficient in using Git, JIRA, and Agile methodologies


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare or insurance domain (FHIR/HL7 knowledge is a plus)

  • Familiarity with GraphQL, WebSockets, or Event-driven architecture (Kafka/SQS)

  • Testing frameworks: JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, Cypress, PyTest

  • Knowledge of Azure services like App Services, Key Vault, Logic Apps, or Azure API Management (APIM)

  • Awareness of accessibility (WCAG) and security best practices (OWASP)
