Job Overview:
UnitedHealth Group is looking for a highly skilled and versatile Full Stack Java Developer to build scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications in the healthcare domain. You will be responsible for designing and developing backend microservices using Spring Boot, dynamic and responsive UIs using React.js, and supporting automation/data transformation workflows with Python.
This is a critical position contributing to enterprise applications that support healthcare operations, provider management, and claims processing.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java (Spring Boot) for backend systems.
Build modern, responsive, and dynamic UI components using React.js, Redux/Context API, and Material UI/Chakra UI.
Create and maintain backend scripts and services in Python for data transformation, analytics, and automation tasks.
Integrate with relational and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
Leverage CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins) for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
Work with JWT/OAuth2 authentication and role-based access control (RBAC) for secure applications.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, story estimation, sprint planning, and code reviews.
Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, QA, and DevOps engineers in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain quality, scalability, and performance of the applications in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
Required Skills:
5+ years of professional experience in Java and Spring Boot
3+ years hands-on experience in React.js, including functional components, hooks, and state management
2+ years experience in Python, preferably for scripting, REST APIs, or automation
Strong understanding of microservices architecture, REST principles, and asynchronous communication
Solid hands-on knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases
Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
Proficient in using Git, JIRA, and Agile methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare or insurance domain (FHIR/HL7 knowledge is a plus)
Familiarity with GraphQL, WebSockets, or Event-driven architecture (Kafka/SQS)
Testing frameworks: JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, Cypress, PyTest
Knowledge of Azure services like App Services, Key Vault, Logic Apps, or Azure API Management (APIM)
Awareness of accessibility (WCAG) and security best practices (OWASP)
