Location: Remote (preferred candidates in the Hampton Roads areas for quarterly on-site event opportunity)
Pay: $20/hr
Schedule: M-F day hours 40 hour weeks

JOB OBJECTIVE
Individuals within the Application Support Specialist role are team members within IT Operations. They are responsible for the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting and support management for IT Services. Application Support Specialists require the ability to interact, develop, and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with clients, vendors, partners and all levels of staff.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Own management of assigned incidents, requests and problems, transforming problems into known errors, developing temporary solutions or permanent alternatives to the errors, driving knowledge to front line support, and providing input to development teams and vendors for permanent resolutions. Work as a project team member or independently with simple to mildly complex tasks in support of IT projects. Participates in project planning processes. Assists in the gathering of business requirements. Growing skill in multiple technical environments and knowledge of a broad range of business areas. Serve as a liaison between users, other IT departments and vendors in coordination with operational and project managers to provide technical solutions that address user needs. Designs, tests, deploys, configures, validates and supports IT solutions to meet the business requirements. Assists with setup and maintenance of test environments Performs ongoing routine application maintenance tasks
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAS)
An Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience. Experience working in applications, systems or IT Operations Knowledge of the change management process Experienced working with cross-functional departments Strong problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently as well as an effective member of a team
PREFERRED SKILLS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other development tools, databases or applications as appropriate. Knowledge of an agile team environment and process. Knowledge of T-SQL and database programmability and structures Experience with scripting languages including PowerShell
