Position: Powerflex Engineer

Location: 100% remote

Duration: 9 month contract

Top Skills' Details

  • Must have strong Powerflex manager experience - WF using 4.6.1 but should have min of 3.6 version

Job Description:

Will work on a large Dell team w/varying levels of experience. Planning is complete - this team primary responsibility will be to catch up on remediation and vulnerability testing. The end customer is Wells Fargo. WF is working on a massive Data Center consolidation project - consolidation 9 existing data centers and migrating into 4 new data centers.

  • Have a very good understanding of all PowerFlex Components and Operations
  • Worked on different versions of PowerFlex OS 3x and 4x
  • Working experience on 2- Layer and HCI offerings of PowerFlex
  • Have a good understanding of all PowerFlex OS components such as MDM, SDS, SDC, SDR and SVM
  • Able to explain different entities within a PowerFlex cluster Protection Domain, Storage Pool, Acceleration Pool, Snapshot, Devices, Volumes and Hosts
  • Familiar with PowerFlex OS CLI or SCLI
  • Able to manage PowerFlex systems using PowerFlex manager (PFxM)
  • Able to navigate the PowerFlex Manager UI to perform different activities
  • Have a complete understanding of the PowerFlex Management Platform (PFMP)
  • Able to perform expansions of Storage Only, Compute Only and HCI resource groups
  • Have a complete understanding of the purpose of a RCM
  • Able to perform health assessments on a PowerFlex system and remediate deviations
  • Know the complete workflow to perform a RCM upgrade
  • Able to differentiate difference RCM versions and decide the upgrade path
  • Troubleshoot PowerFlex upgrade failures and hardware failures
  • Troubleshoot PowerFlex Management Platform errors
  • Working experience with Cloudlink encryption and able to perform all day to day activities that are required to manage a Cloudlink setup
  • Deploy PowerFlex Management Platform and SO, CO and HCI resource groups
  • Clear understanding of how PowerFlex nodes should be cable to achieve full redundancy and connectivity
  • Demonstrate good understanding of vCenter and its operations
  • Familiar with managing ESXi hosts and VMs using vCenter
  • Thorough understanding of virtual networking within vCenter
  • Able to explain concepts of Standard switch, Distributed Virtual switches, portgroups, LACP and failover/Load balancing policies with respect to vSphere networking
  • Experience using iDRAC for remote server management, hardware troubleshooting and Firmware upgrade
  • Have experience building ESXi hosts and Linux servers using ISOs
  • Understanding of Linux network configurations and config files
  • Experience working with Dell support, collecting logs and collaborating with different teams to resolve issues related to PowerFlex
