Morgan Stanley Investment Banking & Global Capital Markets Technology is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help with designing and implementing complex Machine Learning and Generative AI capabilities for our businesses. This role will require the candidate to work with the business on analyzing and defining problems and work closely with development teams on designing and implementing solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience building software platforms on prem and in cloud, data engineering, and API-based development. This role also requires experience implementing solutions using Generative AI. The candidate should have a passion for using AI to increase productivity and an entrepreneurial mindset to help generate ideas for new tools and products as opportunities are identified.
This role requires a combination of both development and infrastructure knowledge and experience. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate technical leadership with a track record of developing and driving innovative solutions.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $180,000 and $260,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Required Skills:
- Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or other related fields
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, design and development
- Strong hands-on application development background in at least one prominent programming language, preferably Python or Java, one NoSQL database (Elastic/OpenSearch/MongoDB etc.) and SQL
- Experience designing and implementing AI/ML models in the following areas: 1) Prompting engineering techniques 2) Manual and LLM-based testing and evaluation 3) Natural Language Processing / RAG - chunking, embedding, and fine-tuning OpenAI models and open source LLMs 4) Supervised & Unsupervised Learning 5) Deep Learning (CNN, RNN, LSTM, Transformers) 6) Entity identification/extraction and knowledge discovery from structured and unstructured content
- Strong desire and ability to influence development teams and help them adopt Generative AI
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global organization and across time zones.
- Understanding of coding best practices, development patterns, performance tuning, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in DevOps, understanding of CI/ CD
- Understanding of Model Ops / ML Ops/ LLM Ops
- Knowledge of multi-agent frameworks
