Job Title: Java Developer- eCommerce Platform
Location: Remote (Canada)
Job Type: Long-Term Contract

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Java Developer with 8 12 years of experience in backend development, architectural design, and agile delivery within the eCommerce domain. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Microservices, and content integration tools like Amplience. This is a hands-on development role with responsibilities across the full SDLC and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build scalable, high-performance backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
  • Lead the implementation of customer-facing features and backend integrations within a modern eCommerce ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, UX/UI teams, QA, and DevOps to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Drive architecture decisions involving catalog, cart, promotions, checkout, and payment flows.
  • Champion Agile/Scrum practices and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Bitbucket and JIRA.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship, and ensure technical best practices.
  • Integrate with headless CMS systems (e.g., Amplience) and Product Information Management (PIM) platforms.
  • Maintain system performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed applications.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8 12 years of backend development experience with Java 11/17+.
  • Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices-based architecture.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native development.
  • Proven experience delivering eCommerce solutions, including modules like product catalog, shopping cart, order lifecycle, payments, and customer data.
  • Experience with Amplience or similar headless CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins, Git).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and team collaboration abilities.
  • Bachelor s or Master s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.

 

Preferred/Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with modern eCommerce platforms such as Commerce tools, Shopify Plus, or Oracle Web Commerce.
  • Exposure to Generative AI use cases for improving development lifecycle or customer experience.
  • Experience in performance tuning and scalable architecture for high-traffic systems.
