Senior Vice President, Application Development Manager

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Application Development Manager to join our FIEQ team. This role is in New York City, NY- Hybrid.

Execution Services Platform is responsible for application development and support for more than 150+ critical business systems including Order Management, Execution, Pricing, Risk & PnL Platforms in the capacity as a broker dealer or in an agency model.

Execution Services Platform provides technology management and application development for Foreign Exchange (FX), Buy Side Trading, Regulator Reporting, Markets Insight and Fixed Income & Equities businesses. This group also supports the company's market risk and counterparty credit risk platform frameworks.

Job Description: We are seeking a talented Senior hands-on Java Developer to join our core FIEQ team in a lead role. In this role you will help design, develop, and implement our applications to support front office and operations groups. You will work cross-functionally with various stakeholders, trading teams, and technology departments to ensure our applications are running at optimal performance. You will take a hands-on approach to understanding business workflows and the products we work with. You will help re-engineer, modernize our platform, and drive our migration to a scalable microservice, cloud-based architecture.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways: As a development lead, will be responsible to-
  • Build, design, Trading Channels, Messaging Channels interfacing with other venues and exchanges using industry standard protocols
  • Operate mission-critical systems and deliver day to day enhancements across front office and Operations
  • Provide technical oversight around major OMS consolidation project
  • Design and develop core components in Java
  • Create and implement system testing procedures
  • Collaborate and work other teams in a platform operating model
  • Analyze and support vendor software
  • Stake holder management
  • Project Prioritization
  • Delivery & Maintenance for the applications within Equities domain
  • Provide second level support

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 + years of experience in systems analysis and program development with related supervisory, management and administrative experience required, experience in the securities or financial services industries is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in software development required
  • Strong proficiency with Java, SQL and Git
  • Very good understanding of industry standard trading protocols like FIX, FpML
  • Proficiency with Data Standards & Data Modelling
  • Proficiency with text-based formats like XML & JSON
  • Strong Proficiency with messaging frameworks - MQ / Kafka
  • Proficiency with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Integration
  • Familiarity with testing patterns and dev ops
  • Familiarity with cloud / containerization
  • Comfortable in Windows and Linux environments
  • Knowledge of Equity products

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry with focus on Equities
  • Hands on experience and working knowledge of Order Management Systems, Smart Order Routers
  • Previous experience designing and implementing new systems and features independently
  • Developed market data feeds and feeds to downstream systems
  • Understanding of trade life cycle events for fixed income and equity
  • Understanding of regulatory landscape from a developer perspective
  • Brings production support experience and can troubleshooting issues under pressure
  • Previous experience with application profiling and debugging
  • Familiarity with Angular & Python is plus
  • Strong communication and organization skills

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $113,000 and $240,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
