Network Architect Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Architect to design, implement, and maintain our organization s network infrastructure. The Network Architect will be responsible for creating scalable, secure, and high-performance network solutions that align with business objectives. This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide connectivity needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Design: Develop and document comprehensive network architectures, including LAN, WAN, data center networks, and cloud-based solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

  • Implementation: Oversee the deployment of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless systems, in collaboration with IT teams.

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze network performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and uptime.

  • Security: Design and implement network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, and encryption protocols, to protect against cyber threats.

  • Cloud Integration: Architect and integrate cloud-based networking solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to support hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

  • Collaboration: Work with stakeholders, including system administrators, developers, and business leaders, to align network solutions with organizational goals.

  • Troubleshooting: Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex network issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and policies to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge transfer.

  • Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with network hardware, software, and service providers to ensure cost-effective and reliable solutions.

  • Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies (e.g., SD-WAN, 5G, IoT) to recommend innovative solutions.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master s degree preferred).

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in network engineering or architecture, with a proven track record of designing and managing enterprise-level networks.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Expertise in network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs).

    • Proficiency with network hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista) and software (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).

    • Experience with cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure VNet, etc.) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).

    • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and tools (e.g., NIST, Palo Alto, Fortinet).

    • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) for network configuration and management.

  • Certifications: Preferred certifications include Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

    • Ability to lead projects and work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Other: Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, PMP) is a plus.
