Job Description:

As a Linux Systems Engineer, you will be performing installations, upgrades, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, securing and repair of Linux servers in a heterogeneous environment. The right candidate will work well with a team, always exhibit excellent customer service skills and be self-motivated seeking ways to improve the environment.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Maintain HPE Synergy Blades, HPE OneView administration, firmware updates etc.
  • Administer Microsoft Azure - compute, storage, and networks.
  • Administration of Active Directory - users, groups, and GPOs.
  • Manage NetScaler - VIPs and SSL certificate bindings.
  • Maintain SOPs, create technical implementation plans for new tasks and projects.
  • Monitor Linux infrastructure, systems operations, and critical application services 24/7; provide information and statistics relevant to system limits on capacity, data storage, system utilization, etc.; respond to critical outages and restore services within agreed upon service levels.
  • As part of a 24/7 on-call rotation (approx once every 2 months), perform the activities associated with the management of dedicated ticket queues to include prioritization of work and assignment to technical resources for resolution of end user concerns while ensuring service levels and objectives are met.
  • Provide Linux technical knowledge in the areas of system installation, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation and installs system-wide software.
  • Perform Linux system updates, implement changes in multiple environments from test or development to production.
  • Interact with the Team Lead and site staff.
  • Support Virtualization technology using VMware.
  • Monitoring and administration of Linux operating system and its components (Disks, mount points, Packages, Users etc.)
  • Implement proper system patching to address security vulnerabilities and accurately report security incidents

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • BA/BS and 2+ years' experience in Linux Administration
  • RedHat Linux server 8 and 9 - Systems Engineering
  • Proven experience creating and implementing scripts for process automation. Primarily Ansible.
  • VMware vSphere 8.x including ESXi, vCenter, Life cycle manager, virtual machine management.
  • Must be able to travel to datacenter site(s) in DMV area when required.
  • Server and application monitoring - SolarWinds
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • Experience developing and interpreting detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation to effect system design deployments.

LOCATION: Remote. Candidates in the DMV area, preferred.

CLEARANCE:

Ability to obtain a Public Trust: candidate must have lived in the United States for at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years and pass a public trust background investigation.

The likely salary range for this position is $73,950 - $100,050. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
