Job Description:

Job Title: Data Center Technician

Location: On-site in Vernon Hills, IL

Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday work as needed
  • Travel may be required

Role Overview: The Data Center Technician is responsible for the successful installation and maintenance of our IT Infrastructure, as well as ongoing administration of all Data Center, MDF, and IDF equipment and support systems. This role requires a highly detail-oriented and organized individual with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Install and maintain IT Infrastructure such as switches, servers, and related products.
  • Install, support, and maintain UPS and Rack Power Systems.
  • Install and maintain campus wiring.
  • Coordinate with vendors as required to maintain systems.
  • Ensure proper patch levels on supported hardware and software.
  • Assist in maintaining technical architecture documentation for server infrastructure.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Support standards, security policies, practices, and guidelines for infrastructure.
  • Install new equipment as required using best practices.
  • Maintain server rooms.
  • Maintain accuracy of objects in monitoring and asset management tools.
  • Work off hours and weekends as dictated by business needs.
  • Lift up to 60 pounds with or without assistance on occasion.
  • Travel up to 20%.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years IT Data Center experience.
  • Capable of independently running and terminating copper and fiber within Data Centers.
  • Experience with Asset and Infrastructure Change Management processes, including asset tagging, labeling, and tracking.
  • Experience surveying data centers and inventorying equipment.
  • Experience participating in Audit and Compliance activities and reporting for Data Centers.
