Role: Java Lead/Architect

Location: Plano, TX

Duration: 24 Months

Interview: Telephonic followed by Video

A Java AWS Tech Lead is a senior role responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of Java-based applications within an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment. This role combines strong technical expertise in Java development with extensive knowledge of AWS services and cloud architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Architecture:

  • Lead the design and architecture of scalable, resilient, and secure Java applications leveraging AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, ECS/EKS).

  • Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and architectural patterns for Java and AWS development.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of Java developers.

  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to quality and performance standards.

Development & Implementation:

  • Hands-on development of complex Java applications using frameworks like Spring Boot, Spring, or similar.

  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment to AWS.

  • Integrate applications with various AWS services and third-party APIs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring application stability and performance.

Cloud Operations & Optimization:

  • Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization and costs.

  • Implement security best practices within the AWS environment.

  • Stay updated with the latest AWS services and features, recommending their adoption where beneficial.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to team planning and retrospectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in Java development, including proficiency with Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring).

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with a wide range of AWS services.

  • Experience with microservices architecture and API development (RESTful, SOAP).

  • Proficiency in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.

  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; AWS certifications are a plus.
