Position Summary

At Nestl Purina, we have a dynamic and diverse full-service Engineering group that spans all disciplines. For summer 2024, we are excited to offer a paid internship program for a qualified Structural Engineering student. This program is designed to develop future professionals for our capital projects execution team who possess the right mix of communication and collaboration skills, curiosity and drive, initiative and problem-solving, attitude and aptitude.

In this Engineering Internship program, students are given real-world responsibilities through involvement in specific projects, initiatives and teams tasked with bringing new capabilities to our network of pet food manufacturing facilities. The projects that we are planning and executing are complex and will provide exposure to a wide range of manufacturing processes involved in making many of the Purina brands found on shelves across the country.

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to assist in the management and design of capital projects aimed at launching new technologies, standards, design capabilities, infrastructure upgrades, automation enhancements or supply chain innovations. In addition, students will have opportunities to visit manufacturing facilities and vendor sites and become an integral part of a cross-functional team aimed at supporting a growing business. For this internship, you will use your Structural Engineering program studies and apply them to manufacturing challenges with the goal to expand your skillset and make a genuine impact.

  • Assist in preparation of documentation, design and specifications for new project submittals
  • Develop project reporting capabilities and dashboards related to cost, assets, schedule and deliverables
  • Participate in oversight of project risk analysis and mitigation, change management, scope adherence and stakeholder management
  • Support and maintain standardized application of project management workflows, methodologies and quality across active projects
  • Monitor and track equipment installation and construction activities related to capital project execution
  • Perform gap analyses and employ continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts to inform decisions regarding selection of hardware and devices, instrumentation and software for potential factory integration
  • Assist in research and development of new technologies and applicable testing, assessment and implementation steps
  • Develop technical skills in various manufacturing processes and engineering programs to provide support across functions

Location
  • On-site at Nestl Purina headquarters in St. Louis, MO (no remote option)
  • Temporary relocation and housing will be provided as needed for the duration of the internship
  • There may be opportunities to travel to manufacturing facilities across the country

Requirements
  • Must be actively enrolled in a Bacheloror Master of StructuralEngineering degree program
  • For students pursuing a Bachelor's degree, you must be entering into at least your junior year in fall 2024to be eligible for consideration
  • Must be available to work approximately 40 hours per week on-site in St. Louis, MO, during the summer months of 2024

The approximate pay rate for this position is $25 per hour. Please note that the hourly pay rate provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
