Location : Houston,TX

Duration :12 months

Design, develop, test, maintain, and support Marketing Application using Oracle PL/SQL paired with WEB enabled frontend.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop Oracle PL/SQL applications.
    • Create Oracle PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, and functions. Create database objects like tables, views, triggers, types, synonyms based on requirements. Create new applications or enhance existing applications to produce commissions reports.
    • Work with Manager/IT Lead to understand requirements, create technical design, analyze source tables and relationships, adhere to consistent coding standards and provide daily status updates.
    • Work with the product owners/business analyst to understand the existing process for each workstream and build, test, and UAT according to their expectations.
    • Use Oracle Analytical functions, MERGE statements, WITH clause, Partitioning, Job logging, File handling, External tables, and Exception handling in the Oracle PL/SQL code.
    • Optimize code by following performance tuning techniques and coding standards established within the team.
    • Perform Unit testing and end to end System testing of the Oracle PL/SQL application.
    • Use analytics skills to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly
    • Use GITHUB to maintain all database object scripts/source code. Follow versioning standards established by the team.
    • Have code reviewed with IT lead prior to moving the code to QA environment
    • Create ControlM job documents, create Change requests, and work with ControlM to get them created and scheduled.
    • Use ServiceNow ticketing system for opening, handling, and closing tickets and change requests.
    • Follow SOX procedures for code deployment.
  • Perform production support.
    • Monitor processes daily/weekly/monthly and resolve job failures as soon as possible to meet established SLAs.
    • Work with ControlM group on re-run/re-start instructions.
    • Be willing to do some support off hours during weekdays and weekends.
    • Fulfill ad-hoc requests for data pull, table updates or minor enhancements.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
    • Develop strong working relationship with team members, Manager, Marketing team analysts, DBA team, Project Manager, and other IT groups.
    • Independently work on tasks without the need for step by step supervision
    • Communicate progress or issues clearly either verbally or through email.
    • Escalate issues or delays that would impact deadline as early in the process as possible.
  • Must be local to Houston or TX and be willing to be in the office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of every week

Education:
Bachelor s degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant business discipline from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in Software development
- 15+ years of strong development experience using Oracle PL/SQL including experience using features like Analytical functions, merge statements, WITH clause, oracle partitioning, job logging, exception handling, performance tuning

- 12+ years of experience in Oracle 12c or 19c
- 7+ years of experience in a Data Warehouse environment
- Strong Analytical skills

- Troubleshooting skills

- Strong Team Player

  • 5+ years experience with Agile methodology & scrum framework
  • Good analytical and comprehension skills
  • Utility industry experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with Marketing applications supporting campaign management and execution is a plus
  • Experience on product pricing within the utility industry including margin management and reporting is a plus

  • Basic knowledge on JAVA scripting & HTML preferred
